Eye-poppingly colourful shells, Windows Phone’s live tiles and exclusive services certainly mark Nokia’s Lumia range out from the slew of smartphones adhering fast to the 'black slab' school of design and post-iPhone user interfaces consisting of rows of apps.

But for all the good notices taht the likes of the Lumia 900 garnered in the tech press, Lumia kits are yet to find favour with the mass market in anything like the same way as Samsung Galaxy handsets or the iPhone.

Can the Lumia 925 buck the trend and crack the mainstream? Find out in our review.

One of the most oft-heard criticisms of some earlier Lumia smartphones is that their plastic builds made them feel a bit cheap. Not so the Lumia 925.

Presumably in response to those catcalls from reviewers, the Lumia 925 features a robust metal frame while retaining the range’s hallmark polycarbonate plastic rear.

That means that it feels premium. But it also means Nokia hasn’t bulked up the handset unnecessarily, with the Lumia 925 coming in at a fighting-fit 139g.

Fire up the Lumia 925 and the phone’s 4.5-inch, 1280x768 resolution AMOLED display impresses from the get-go too. More of which later.

Newcomers to the Windows Phone OS that powers the Lumia 925 might be put off by its unfamiliarity. Don't let that happen.

Although Microsoft’s live tiles design deviates from the iOS-alike layout that once seemed set in stone, it’s actually a great operating system and one that's really easy to pick up.

The blend of metal and plastic gives the 925 a two-tone look at the rear, which may or may not butter your muffin. For the record, we like it.

Squarer than most smartphones, the Lumia 925 features three on-screen pressers at the foot of the screen, namely: back, start and search. All of which will be familiar if you’ve used any kind of Windows Phone before.

The device also packs three buttons on the right, taking in a volume rocker, a dedicated camera button and ‘sleep/wake’.

At 8.5mm thick, this is a lot thinner than the 10.7mm Lumia 920 and is much more comparable – if not quite as svelte - as the likes of the iPhone and Samsung’s top-end Galaxy kits.

Nokia vice president Bryan Biniak has issued a barely concealed attack on Microsoft, saying it needs to work harder on getting the best apps onto Windows Phone if it wants to sell more smartphones.

In an interview with IBTimes, Biniak said: “We are releasing new devices frequently and for every new device, if there is an app that somebody cares about that's not there that's a missed opportunity of a sale.

"We are trying to evolve the cultural thinking [at Microsoft] to say 'time is of the essence.' Waiting until the end of your fiscal year when you need to close your targets doesn't do us any good when I have phones to sell today."

Biniak went on to add: “It's not just about the hardware, it's about the tools that are on the hardware. You can't sell a phone without the apps, you just can't."

Nokia is certainly not lacking when it comes to hardware. Its new 41-megapixel Lumia 1020 has been widely heralded as one of the best camera phones ever.

But with Microsoft offering a mere 165,000 smartphone apps compared to Apple’s 900,000 and Google’s millions, it seems Espoo may continue to struggle to compete.

Nokia is readying a new NFC and Bluetooth-packing accessory that it reckons will stop you from ever losing your keys again.

Dubbed Treasure Tag, the small device will work with Espoo’s Lumia smartphones. Word is that it’ll pair with a specially designed app, which will allow you to see exactly where the tag is at any given time.
The small, stamp-sized device comes with a special loop so it can be attached to a set of keys or a bag.

What’s more, it’ll play nice with Nokia’s LiveSight mapping platform, allowing you to see where it is whenever you fire up your handset’s maps app.

You’ll even be able to use it to find your phone if it’s lost, by simply pressing down a dedicated button which will make the phone beep if in range.

Rumour is the Nokia Treasure Tag will be out ‘in the coming weeks’. Hopefully it can help to chivvy along sales of the new Lumia 1020.

Nokia’s 4G-packing Lumia 625 will be up for grabs on these shores on August 28th, coinciding with the launch of O2 and Vodafone’s 4G networks.

Both networks will be stocking the device, as will EE. Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U will also be carrying the affordable next-gen handset.

Enticingly, it’ll be available on past-as-you-go deals for just £179. That’s absurdly cheap for a phone that crams in LTE, a huge 4.7-inch display, Windows Phone 8, 8GB memory and 7GB of free Microsoft Sky Drive space.

Contract-wise, plans will start at just £21 and snag you the phone for free, although expect to play plenty more if you want access to 4G data.

That’s reflected in Vodafone asking for £34 a month for the phone, throwing in 2GB of LTE data.

The Lumia 625 was revealed at the end of last month.

Espoo is trying desperately to offer a range of Windows Phones at different price points in an attempt to convince as many people as possible to make the switch from iOS and Android.

Nokia's 41-megapixel Lumia 1020 will go on sale in the UK on 25th September, Nokia has confirmed. The handset was first announced back in July.

You can pre-order the device now on a range of networks, if you're really keen. But if you want the 64GB edition you'll need to sign up on O2, which has exclusive rights to sell the top-end model and is offering it free when you ink a two-year contract at £37 per month.

A 41-megapixel camera is the jewel in the 1020's brightly coloured crown. That resolution was previously seen in Nokia's 808 PureView, but that handset ran Symbian, which was outdated even then.

The 1020 runs Windows Phone 8, however, so it's much better equipped to duke it out with its smartphone rivals.

It also features Nokia Pro Camera, an app designed to make it easier for anyone to take professional-looking pictures. You can preview how the shot will look before you snap, for example.

Another feature means each time you take a picture, it captures a 38-megapixel snap for printing and editing, along with a 5-megapixel one for uploading to the web.

Carl Zeiss optics are on board, and image stabilisation gives you statue-steady snaps no matter what the conditions.

The 1020 is expected to be one of the last flagship handsets the company launches before it's taken over by Microsoft.

The Redmond-based company announced it was buying Nokia's mobile division recently, with the deal expected to go through early next year.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 Bandit - the company's first 6-inch handset - should be announced before then though, if recent leaks are to be believed.

Apple made history this week by announcing not one but two new iPhones. But which one is right for you?

We've put together a list of the main differences between them, so you can decide which to make room for in your pocket.

 Price

The 5c was rumoured to be a budget iPhone, but that turned out to be off the mark.

It'll set you back £469 SIM-free, or starting at £30 on contract (though you'll have to shell out £32 a month for two years). And that's the more affordable of the two new additions to the iPhone range.
The 5s costs from £549, though it'll be much cheaper on a contract.

Exactly how much cheaper we don't know yet, as you can't pre-order the 5s. But either way, these are the most expensive iPhones ever.

One of the major differences between the two is the fact that the 5s has a fingerprint scanner built into the home button.

Not only does this make the device more secure, as you're not using a PIN code, it also makes it much easier to buy things from iTunes.

Fed up of entering your Apple ID every time you download a song? You won't have to with this, just touch your finger and you're done.

The 5c features nothing of the sort, as it's basically a restyled iPhone 5. Which brings us onto…
The 5c is the brightest iPhone ever, coming in a selection of five colours: green, blue, yellow, pink and white. There are optional cases available in those same hues, giving you dozens of potential colour combinations.

The iPhone 5s is a lot more sober, but still comes in more colours than its predecessor. You'll be able to get the 5s in champagne gold, silver, and space grey.

It too has a selection of official cases, but these ones are leather, compared to the 5c's silicone ones. The 5s's case comes in brown, beige, black, yellow, blue, or red.

The iPhone 5c has the same camera as the iPhone 5, but the 5s has tons of new imaging skills. The sensor is 15 per cent larger, which should improve picture quality.

There's a wider f/2.2 aperture, letting in more light, which should improve the quality of your low-light shots.

Burst mode takes lots of snaps at once and automatically picks the best, or you can browse them and choose another.

You can now shoot video in slow motion, too.

Nokia has so far ruled the roost when it comes to imaging on a smartphone, but the 5s could well unseat it.
he iPhone 5s features a whole new chipset. The A7 processor replaces the iPhone 5's A6, and should run twice as fast. (The 5c is still stuck with the A6, so may seem a bit sluggish in comparison.)

The A7 should also mean much better graphics in games. But not only that, the 5s also features a new M7 motion coprocessor.

This brings together all the data from the 5s's compass, accelerometer, and gyro motion sensors so it knows exactly how you're moving.

That could pave the way for a whole new generation of fitness tracker apps, which the 5c will miss out on.

. You are required to take your car to the repair shop your insurance company prefers. Although your insurance agency will probably recommend a repair shop (and the shop may be in their network), you can take your car anywhere you like. Even if the insurance company insists, you have the right to choose your own repair shop. In fact, you might want to refrain from using the recommended shop because if they're collaborating with your insurance company and lowering their prices, they may not give you a high-quality repair job.

2. Multiple estimates are required after an accident. By law, you are only required to get one estimate. If you want to get multiple appraisals, that's fine too.

3. The insurance company and repair shop may not agree on a price. If they don't and the insurance estimate is lower than the cost of repairs, you must pay the difference. Your insurance agency and repair shop should agree on a fair price. If you choose well, your repair shop will advocate for you and provide evidence of all the damage sustained. Collision insurance coverage should cover the entire cost of the damage. You should not pay anything but the deductible.

4. You must use the repair shop with the lowest bid. As I've noted already, you can choose whichever repair shop you like and you don't have to get more than one bid. Your insurance agency may push you to go with the lowest estimate, but you should choose the repair shop based on their knowledge, expertise, and customer service, not their low price. Low bidders rarely have the best service.

5. After your insurance company writes you a check, any additional costs must be paid by you. The insurance company should pay for everything (except for the deductible). The estimate was only an estimate and if additional repairs are needed, your insurance company should send you another check.

Sometimes, the inclusion of an insurance policy for a car is important. This is true especially if you have just acquired your new vehicle. In the actual case, having an insurance could bring convenience for you. If there will be any problems in the future about expenses, then you can rely on a financial help. We all know that insurance policies are good during accidents, injuries and car damages. Therefore, getting one for your property like a car will be a good decision. However, a beginner in this field may have a hard time to look for a good policy. That is why we have prepared this post for you in order to get the best insurance for your car.

What makes a good insurance policy? Any properties, especially a car, will require an insurance. In order to find a good one, you should know your capacity to pay. An insurance policy that allows you to pay for a shorter span of years will be ideal. This means you can get benefits in a shorter time frame should you need one. A shorter policy means you have to pay more instead of monthly arrears. But this is generally better if you are expecting other spending modes in the future. With a larger sum of payment, you are shortening the agony in paying for insurance. But the main benefits of the policy will be intact. So we suggest that you apply for a policy that provides you flexible terms when it comes to payments.

After you have known the terms, you need to find out the coverage. As you know, insurance policies have a definite coverage for the asset applied for. It could have coverage features like accidents, damages or even injuries to persons. There are different packages that you can choose from. You only need to find out which one will suit your lifestyle. If you are not sure about this, you need to ask a question for your agent. He will surely provide you the right features that could go along with your account. This way, you can easily have peace of mind no matter how you drive your car. Most of the time, the coverage extension will involve additional costs. This is just all right because the feature will help you gain more benefits if accidents will happen.

One last thing to consider is the review of the clients. We all know that insurance policies may require additional costs to our budget. Therefore, we should look for something that is worth of our money. So make sure that you search for some reviews on the internet. For sure, there are other people who have already used the policy you are interested in. They probably have provided testimonials to the great service of the company. If not, they will also write them in most websites. You can easily find the details in the forums where cars are the topic. You can also refine your search in finding the right policy for your needs. No matter what policy you are going to take, make sure that you can find positive reviews for it

If you are just starting out or trying to build your automotive repair business's reputation, you may not know exactly where to begin. The automotive repair business is very competitive and it is easy to go unnoticed among bigger, more well-known brand name businesses. There are a few things you can do to earn a solid reputation in your area and get customer's to notice your business.

Keep continuing your education. Every year, vehicles are updated continuously. Unless you own a specialty shop that only works with antique cars, you need to keep up-to-date with your knowledge of newer cars. You should have a certain amount of money set aside to continue your education and help your mechanics stay on top of the market.

Hire only certified mechanics to work in your garage. When your mechanics know how to work on a variety of cars and are certified, more customers will be drawn to your business. They will develop the trust that is necessary to have customers willing to come back to your repair shop whenever their car needs a minor inspection or something more intensive.

It is very important to keep your garage looking neat and clean. It can be easy to neglect the garage because things will become dirty easily. But you must keep this area clean for safety reasons and for your company image. Customers like to see that the shop is well taken care of and will feel more at ease about your mechanics getting in and out of their cars. No one wants oil and grease tracked into their cars, so make sure your mechanics take necessary precautions to avoid this.

Don't neglect the lobby or the customers. Sometimes customers have to wait for a long time in the lobby while their vehicles are repaired. Your lobby should be clean, inviting, and have something for the customers to do. A vending machine for snacks, magazines, and a TV are essential when trying to keep customers from becoming impatient. Make sure your lobby furniture is comfortable and clean.

You should also keep the customers informed of what is happening with their vehicle and the progress on the repair. A long wait is hard, but a long wait without knowing what is happening and how much longer the repairs may take is even harder. Keeping the customers informed shows that you respect them and want to keep them involved.

When you are involved with your community, you bring awareness to your business. Keep a collection for a local charity in your lobby, organize an employee volunteer day, or donate some of your services to organizations or people in need. Giving back to the community in small ways can benefit your business in the long term.

Market your business in the media. Don't forget to take your advertisements to social networking sites. Create a website for your repair business to advertise what you do, and people will become more aware of your brand. Many people today don't even glance in their phone books when they need a service; they search for it online.

Always stay professional. Make and stick to your financial budget, make sure you have enough liability and industry-specific insurance, and always treat the customer with respect. Take care of your employees and you will build a great reputation with the public and those who work for you.
